Congress Hotel Van Der Valk – Mons

Construction of a new hotel 4 stars near the congress centre of Mons

The hotel, situated between the new train station and the congress center, includes an underground parking, more than 130 rooms and suites, about ten halls for conferences, meetings or events and a fitness center. The building is founded on piles. The part of the rooms is constructed using sand-lime load bearing masonry covered with metal cladding. The other part uses columns and beams to carry the slabs. The slabs are cast in place on panel-decks or prefabricates hollow core slabs. In order to increase execution speed, many of the beams have been prefabricated.

Particular subjects in the projects are:

  • A low rise structure
  • Highly prefabricated slabs
  • Particularly short execution time
  • The cast in place curved stair
  • A daring façade geometry
  • The particularly low bearing resistance of the ground
