Saint-Georges – Tournai

Transformation of the site creating apartments, offices, day care centre and parking

The project comprises the demolition and the reconstruction of the site. It includes the following:

Le Quait St-Brice : 29 apartments (3.500 m²)

• The angle of St Brice/Becquerelle : 3.000 m² of office area
• Place Becquerelle : 12 apartments (1.400 m²)
• Underground parking (100 places)
• 2 cribs (54 places) et 1 crib for 7 handicapped children

The structure is composed principally of concrete slabs supported directly by the columns for the apartments and of hollow core slabs in the other areas.

A part of the façade has been cast in situ in order to create a large cantilever.

The foundations include a slab on grade and piles.

A particular difficulty concerned the existing ancient foundations and the ramparts of the city.
